I think I've said before that I really dig the cohesiveness and flow of Between the Buried and Me's 2009 record The Great Misdirect, but even with that in mind, it remains true that the previous album Colors is pretty goddamn badass too. And for my money, "Informal Gluttony" is one of that disc's highlights.
From the very start of the epic tribal drumming-type intro buildup to the spacey melodic section that ultimately fades back into the tribal drum redux outro, "Informal Gluttony" is a complex tech metal roller coaster ride that's nearly seven minutes long. Like so many Between the Buried and Me songs, some of the impact is diluted by removing the song from the context of its surroundings on the album, but I'm willing to run that risk in order to recommend "Informal Gluttony" as your song this evening.
