Song of the Day: Enter Shikari - Mothership

     We're going to change directions again today, moving from yesterday's Canadian indie-emo-alt-rock to some British post-hardcore electro-metal* in my ongoing quest to provide you, dear reader, not just with some rockin' tunes, but with some rockin' tunes you might not already know. To that end, let's talk about Enter Shikari.

     Enter Shikari is another one of those bands we listened to quite a bit when I was an undergrad. At the time, we were listening to a lot of emo/screamo/-core type stuff, as well as lot's of New Wave of American Metal-type bands like Killswitch Engage and Lamb of God -- basically lots of stuff that's pretty straight forward --  so when we discovered this band from England that was taking those kinds of elements and throwing in healthy doses of electronica, not just in ambient segues between songs or whatever but throughout their music, we were intrigued. I haven't heard much of their newer work in the last couple of years (although I'm listening to some even as I type this), but every once in a while I break some of the old stuff out, like today's song.

     That song is "Mothership" from Enter Shikari's 2007 album Take to the Skies. What's not to like about a catchy, energetic song that's about alien abduction? Nothing in my book. Check it out and see what you think.

* Isn't genre labeling fun?
