Tuesday: Enter Shikari - Anything Can Happen in the Next Half Hour

I haven't done a Techno Tuesday in a while, so let this much belated post be one of those electronic affairs. And yes, before you electro-junkies jump on me, I'm aware that every time I use this band for this type of post, I'm stretching to use the word Techno, but alliteration, right?

Regular readers will know that I often go to the Enter Shikari well when I want something sorta heavy with a dash of electronic content, and devoted readers might recall the trivia tidbit that my favourite Shikari record is still 2007's Take to the Skies. That means another cut from Skies for your Techno Tuesday track, and this time out it's "Anything Can Happen in the Next Half Hour". So put this one on and then cross your fingers about that title...

Sunday: Enter Shikari - Enter Shikari

How's that electronic-y aftertaste from Numbers treating your earballs? Let's keep that kind of flavour lingering on your tongue a little bit longer, shall we, with a cut from my favourite record by British techno-metalcore band Enter Shikari.

The guys in Enter Shikari have come a long ways and several albums since 2007's Take to the Skies, but Enter Shikari's debut LP is still the one I revisit the most. It's at that perfect nostalgic intersection between the right collection of music and the right time in one's life to discover said collection of music. My interest in these guys has dropped off significantly since, but like I said, Take to the Skies gets more frequent replays than anything else in their catalogue.

Which is why this synthy Sunday song is the eponymous first full track from Take to the Skies, the super-catchy, super high energy "Enter Shikari". Glow sticks aren't necessary, just get in your car, rolls the windows down, and crank this one (and then the rest of the album) for instant party.

Enter Shikari - The Last Garrison

Time for a bit of a Don't Call it a Comeback Thursday post, if you will. It's been a few years since I've paid much attention to British electro-metal amalgamators Enter Shikari, but I used to really dig Take to the Skies. I still take it for the occasional spin, so when I hear that the band has a new album in the works, I get interested.

The Mindsweep won't be sweeping us away until January, but we can all enjoy a little new Enter Shikari right now. "The Last Garrison" is a bouncy piece of dancey pop-metal, so I don't know if it will hold any appeal for the trooly brootal among you. It will, however, find a home in the ears of fans of catchy, fun jams from bands that understand small doses of heavy don't need to be accompanied by big doses of serious. Rock "The Last Garrison" if you Thursday evening needs a pick-me-up.

Song of the Day: Enter Shikari - Sorry, You're Not a Winner

Blimey! You know how most of the time you can't tell if a band would make good extras on East Enders because they sound perfectly normal when they're singing, and only when they open their mouths for an interview do they come out with nothing but rhyming Cockney slang? Yeah, that won't be a problem with today's band - they're pretty obviously British right from the get go.

Song of the Day: Enter Shikari - Mothership

We're going to change directions again today, moving from yesterday's Canadian indie-emo-alt-rock to some British post-hardcore electro-metal* in my ongoing quest to provide you, dear reader, not just with some rockin' tunes, but with some rockin' tunes you might not already know. To that end, let's talk about Enter Shikari.
