Song of the Day: Ramming Speed - Grinding Dissent

Re-thrash... Neo-thrash...  The thrash revival... Whatever name you prefer (or despise), the fact remains that thrash is back. Or it never went away. Either.

Sure, it's all just labeling and semantics, but if you'll join me for a moment in entertaining the idea that there is some metal we can reasonably call thrash, then there's no denying that this kind of metal is alive and well. Revocation are often pointed to as the torchbearers of modern thrash, and with good reason, since they're fast and tight and aggressive like a good thrash band should be. I'd even go out on the proverbial limb and say that a lot of Sylosis' stuff is pretty thrashy, and pretty awesome at that.

But these two thrash titans are hardly alone in cranking out the fleet-fingered, deft-wristed riffs. Among the thrashy peers of Revocation and Sylosis are Boston's Ramming Speed. You should check out today's song "Grinding Dissent" from their album Doomed to Destroy, Destined to Die and sample Ramming Speed's blend of thrashiness and punkiness, sprinkled liberally with metally goodness. Tasty!
