Song of the Day: Meshuggah - Pitch Black

The way I see it, Meshuggah is the kind of band that you're all probably already listening to. Or at least you all say you do, even if you don't actually, because listening to Meshuggah carries with it a certain amount of metal cachet. But even if you do dig Meshuggah for reals, there's still a chance you haven't yet heard that they've just put out a new (free!) EP on Scion AV, the new saviours of modern metal.

OK, so it's just two songs, only one of which is previously unreleased (the other is a live version of obZen's "Dancers to a Discordant System") but hey, new Meshuggah is new Meshuggah, right? I'll drink to that! And you know what? I'll even call declare today Meshuggah Monday. How do you like them apples?

Your Meshuggah song today is "Pitch Black", the other song from the new Pitch Black EP. It was apparently recorded back in 2003, but don't let that turn you off. It's weird, it's off-kilter, and it's heavy in it's own way, which means it's definitely Meshuggah, and while it's different than a lot of the stuff on Koloss I still think you should check it out. After all, it is free...
