So, a week behind and looking to catch up once and for all as soon as possible? Better get to it, shall we, starting with a way-late Monday song from Loud Noises Mellow Monday favourites Radiohead.
Checking my records, I see I've yet to feature one of my favourite moody pieces from 2007's personal-sleeper-hit In Rainbows, so my choice of Mellow Monday song today is pretty easy peasy. "All I Need" starts out somewhat sparsely, with a little bit of ambient background, a laid-back beat, and a bass line. But by the end, things are lush and densely beautiful, with piano, horns, strings, xylophone, and Thom's croon over top of everything. If your head wasn't nodding along at some point during the four minutes or so of "All I Need", make a chiropractic appointment because there could be something wrong with your neck.

Monday: Radiohead - Jigsaw Falling Into Place
Every seven days or so Monday happens to us again, which is why I try to keep things fun with alliterative themes like this week's Mellow Monday. So chill out, brah,
Spoiler alert: when I'm looking for something a little more "chill" but still musically interesting, Radiohead remains near the top of my list. Love them or hate them, metalheads, they've had a pretty epic career that's produced a pretty varied catalogue. As a result, it shouldn't be too hard to find something to suit your mood on any given occasion.
This evening I've gone with "Jigsaw Falling Into Place" from Radiohead's 2007 album In Rainbows because it's always been a song that I've dug, and because it strikes this weird balance between laid back and intense. Check it out and pretend it's yesterday.

Radiohead - Bodysnatchers
I don't know about all of you out there, but I for one am not just a one-dimensional metalhead, a fact that should be readily evident by this point in the history of Loud Noises. But it's been a bit (a few days, anyways...) since I last posted something, shall we say, out of character. So here goes nothing!
Your song today is "Bodysnatchers" from Radiohead's 2007 album In Rainbows. I know that this one isn't everybody's favourite Radiohead record, and I certainly wouldn't ever put it above classics like OK Computer or Kid A (an album that holds a special place in my heart), but I also think it doesn't get enough recognition as a solid record. And while I definitely dig some of Radiohead's bloopier, more electronic-influenced stuff (I said I like Kid A, remember?), I feel like "Bodysnatchers" is a bit of a throwback to some of the more rocking, guitar-based stuff from the band's past.
If you know In Rainbows, you'll already know "Bodysnatchers" is a cool tune, and if you don't, well, you'll just have to listen for yourself and find out.

Song of the Day: Radiohead - Karma Police
90's Week rolls along apace this afternoon, and today we're going with one of those songs that'll get everyone in the room at a party singing. Bonus points if you can play it on guitar or piano.

Song of the Day: Radiohead - Everything in Its Right Place
When I was younger I used to listen to music to help me sleep. That and a lot of books on tape. But as I get older and my musical tastes drift further and further into metal territory, I don't find this as useful a sleep aid.

Song of the Day: Radiohead - Pyramid Song
Just a quick one this evening, with something mellow to help you and me both get to sleep easier.
Your relaxing song this evening is Radiohead's "Pyramid Song" from 2001's Amnesiac. Let the piano intermingle with Thom's plaintive wail to send you off to dreamland. Know the video for this one, with the sea turtles and whatnot? Make today's song even more effective by picturing that and drifting off into it. Pleasant dreams.

Song of the Day: Radiohead - Lotus Flower
I was wracking my brain, trying to decide what metal band deserved a song today, when it hit me: do something different today. It's the weekend, so perhaps something a little more chill is in order. I've been a Radiohead fan for a long time, and they're a band that's gone through so many changes, that I could pick a song from any number of stylistic directions. But if I'm thinking something chill, something decidedly not metal, I know where I'm going.
