Most of my Throwback Thursday posts lately have been little baby jumps back in time, a decade or two, at most -- trifles, really. For this Thursday's post, I'm genuinely throwing it back a ways -- forty years or so, if you're counting. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Led Zeppelin.
Led Zeppelin usually get lumped in with classic rock, or sometimes mentioned in the same breath as bands like Black Sabbath when discussing the origins of heavy metal. And while both of those classifications are valid, there's so much going on across the breadth of Zep's catalogue that one can find whatever genre they want given only minimal searching, or none at all. Groovalicious funk, anyone?
Your Throwback Thursday song for this week is "Trampled Under Foot" from Zep's 1975 album Physical Graffiti, a raunchy slice of relentlessly driving funk that you can't help but bob your head to. Take a break from getting out of whatever comfort zone you usually inhabit, pile into your car, roll the windows down, and crank some Zep, starting with this one.

Led Zeppelin - Fool in the Rain
I had a (very) vaguely April Fool's-themed song picked for yesterday before I got all philosophical about letting go of yesterday and focusing on tomorrow, so today I'm basically going to ignore the message of yesterday's post and go back to rectify my mini-mistake.
Your foolish song tonight is Led Zeppelin's "Fool in the Rain" from 1979's In Through the Out Door. It's a catchy little number, and while it might not be considered "classic" Zep by most, but it's still got great groove -- and that's no April Fool's joke
(Sorry, I know that was bad, I just couldn't resist.)

Song of the Day: Led Zeppelin - Moby Dick
It would be next to impossible for me to do any kind of classic rock week without having a song by today's band. The tough part is picking a song. After all, British rock gods Led Zeppelin have an extensive catalogue that's stuffed to the gills with great songs. One could probably write an entire blog (and someone out there probably is) about Zepp, so monumental was their impact on rock and/or roll. Ultimately, I decided today to go with one you might not know if you're not a Led Zeppelin fan.
