Wednesday: Fellsilent - Age of Deception

As the saying goes, it never rains but when it pours. In addition to the memorial service the week before last that I mentioned in a previous post, I've also spent some time over the last week or so dealing with some damage to my car, caused by someone backing into it while it was parked. Yeah, I know, right?

Anyways, without going into detail, I'll just say that the responsible party is being uncooperative, making this whole thing more trouble and stress than it should be. The net result for you has been another unfortunate hiatus, but we're going to start once again getting things back on track today, starting with a little something for your last Wednesday track.

Climb into your Wayback machines and set that dial thing on the dashboard to 2008 for a cut from the first and only LP by British pro-djent-itors Fellsilent, The Hidden Words. There's a lot of good stuff on this one, if this is the kind of thing you're into, and today I'm going with album closer "Age of Deception" for the forward glimpse it gives us into some of the sounds of Tesseract to come. Angular grooves abound, so limber up your neck before hitting up the link on this one.

Fellsilent - Silence is the Loudest Cry for Help

I do my best here at Loud Noises to write about stuff that at least some of you out there haven't heard before. I hope today I've succeeded in this mission.

Tesseract has become a bit of a household name in the world of modern metal, but the band didn't just appear out of nowhere. Part of the catalyst for the band's formation was the dissolution of guitarist Acle Kahney's previous band Fellsilent. If you want to know where the heavier elements of Tesseract's sound first originated, look no further than song's like "Silence is the Loudest Cry for Help" from 2008's The Hidden Words. As much as I love Tesseract, it'd be interesting to hear what would have happened if Fellsilent had recorded more than just this one record. I guess we'll never know....

Song of the Day: Fellsilent - Erase/Begin

Another day, another teaser for the new Tesseract album that I can't use as a Song of the Day. Soon, my pretties... Anyways, tonight instead of posting more old Tesseract, I'm taking a different tack. I've written about today's band before, but judging from the fact that they've only got a little over 330 likes on their Facebook page I think many of you might not be familiar with them. Sure, they're defunct, but from their ashes Acle Kahney soared pheonix-like on to Tesseract.

Songs of the Days

So I completely spaced yesterday, and apparently went to bed last night somehow thinking I had done a Song for the Day when I had in fact done no such thing. So today you get a double dose of tasty, tasty tunes to sink your ears into. I promise to be a good boy and stop missing my own somewhat arbitrary self-imposed deadline. On with the show!
