Song of the Day: Perhaps - Volume One

     Given my choice of song for today, it would perhaps have been prudent of me to get it posted before now, so that you might have some time this evening to check said song out (trust me, you're going to need it). But since it's a long weekend, you should have nothing better to do tomorrow than crank this song, and thus I don't feel so bad for not giving you enough lead time.



     How much lead time? Well, have you got about forty minutes to spare right now? Because that's about how long you'll need to listen to Volume One, the debut release from post-rock outfit Perhaps. It's forty minutes long and it's all one big track that meanders all over the map, which is both as ambitious and as epic as it sounds. Post-rock, jazz, metal, post-hardcore --  if it's a genre and you like it, there's probably flashes of it in Volume One. And yet it still hangs together as one big piece of music, rather than feeling like several smaller songs that have simply been artificially grafted together.

     Realistically, there's no way for you to adequately get a feel for what I mean without having a listen yourself, so what the fuck are you waiting for? Forty minutes of free time?
