Song of the Day: Machine Head - Aesthetics of Hate

Afternoon everybody, it's Monday once again (funny how it happens every week...) and it's imperative to start the week off right. Normally this might mean a Metallica Monday, but today I'm going to go with another M band, albeit one with which you're probably already familiar. That band is Machine Head, which means that this is Machine Head Monday.

But what Machine head song to choose? There's certainly enough to choose from, with Machine Head having released seven full length albums chock full of riffs (although we might choose to forget about a couple of the more nu-metal influenced ones in the middle there). But for my money, one of the first songs to come to mind when I hear the name Machine Head is the song Rob Flynn wrote following the 2004 death of Dimebag Darrell in response to an article on a conservative website that celebrated the guitarist's murder.

Now, I'm not going to get myself all riled up and ranty writing this (although seriously, fuck William Grim in the ass) but I am going to recommend the song "Aesthetics of Hate" from Machine Head's 2007 album The Blackening as your song for today. The anniversary of Dime's death isn't until December, but today's as good a day as any to crank some metal and down a brew in Dime's memory. So do it up!
